Electrical Tips

• If switches or plugs are warm to the touch, call an electrician to check for problems.
• Electrical cords should fit snuggly into outlets. If it is loose, the outlet needs to be replaced.
• Outlets within two feet of any water source should be GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters) outlets. If they are not, they should be replaced.
• Circuit breakers sometimes trip. You can flip them back on but never install a larger size circuit breaker.
• If you have experienced appliance loss due to lightening or power surges, you may need a lightening arrestor, surge protector or proper inspection of your electrical service ground.
• Always use the correct bulb wattage for the light fixture. Applying a small amount of dish soap to the bulb base threads allows for easier installation and removal.
• Avoid using extension cords if possible. If an extension cord is to be used frequently, check for cracks fraying or other damage to the cord and make sure it is electrically rated for what is being plugged into it.
